Security operatives kill 2 kidnappers, recover arms in Kogi

Two kidnappers have been killed during a gun duel with security operatives in Idah Local Government Area of Kogi State.

It was gathered that two other gunmen escaped with varying degrees of bullet wounds.

The incident was confirmed by the chairman of Idah Local Government, Abuh Odoma, on Wednesday.

Odoma said with the support received from the Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, security operatives have continued to secure victory over some of the assailants.

He stated that the security operatives were committed to ensuring that as declared by the governor in their several meetings, every nook and cranny of Kogi State was guaranteed safe and secured.

In his reaction, the Kogi State Security Adviser, Commodore Jerry Omodara, stressed the need for continued vigilance by citizens particularly those in the rural communities.

Omodara added that security required collective responsibility of every stakeholder, saying; “All hands must be on deck to ensure that the entire state was permanently rid of criminal elements and their sponsors.”

He noted that the state government has consistently displayed competence and capacity in the area of security and was not resting on its oars until the end of Bello’s tenure in the state.
