A Magistrates’ Court sitting in Jos, the Plateau State capital, has sentenced a 24-year-old student, Ayobami Analowo, to six months imprisonment for stealing a gas cylinder.
The presiding judge, Shawomi Bokkos, sentenced Analowo after he pleaded guilty on Tuesday, April 16, 2024.
The prosecution counsel, Inspector Ibrahim Gokwat, told the court that the case was reported at the ‘A’ Police Station in Jos by the complainant, Abraham Godwin, on March 2.
The prosecutor said the student trespassed into the complainant’s house and stole the gas cylinder.

Gokwat added that the gas cylinder was found in Analowo’s possession during police investigation.
The offence, according to him, is punishable under the Plateau state Penal Code Law.
Bokkos, however, sentenced the student to six months imprisonment with a fine option of N20,000.
The judge said the punishment would serve as a deterrent to other would-be offenders.
