Operatives of the Lagos State Environmental Task Force have arrested seven suspected robbers allegedly operating atop the Bolade Bridge in the Oshodi area of Lagos, following intelligence-led surveillance.
The arrest was confirmed on Monday by the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, in a post on X. The suspects were identified as Samuel Olumide (19), Quadri Oladipupo (21), Ojo Ifabomi (23), Tunde Balogun (24), Dayo Badmus (21), Adegunlola Tayo (20), and Simon Michael (21).
Wahab said the suspects were apprehended during a coordinated operation carried out earlier in the day, based on actionable intelligence. He explained that the move was part of the state government’s broader security and environmental enforcement efforts.
According to the commissioner, the operation aims to reclaim public spaces, safeguard commuters, and dismantle criminal activities around key transport corridors. He stressed that bridges, highways, and pedestrian routes must remain safe for law-abiding residents and not be allowed to serve as hideouts for criminals.
He added that the suspects are currently in custody and will be charged in accordance with the law.
