Tinubu grants jobs, PhD scholarships to 200 outstanding NYSC members

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved automatic employment, cash rewards, and postgraduate scholarships for 200 exceptional National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members in recognition of their outstanding performance during their service years from 2020 to 2023.

At the combined President’s NYSC Honours Award Ceremony held in Abuja, Tinubu, represented by the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, commended the awardees for demonstrating discipline, commitment, selflessness, teamwork, patriotism, and integrity during their service year.

The president announced that each award recipient would receive ₦250,000, automatic employment in the Federal Civil Service, and a full scholarship to pursue postgraduate studies up to PhD level at any Nigerian university.

In a show of inclusive support, Tinubu also directed that 10 physically challenged ex-corps members, who sustained disabilities during their service, be offered automatic employment and included in the scholarship programme.

“The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation and the Chairman of the Federal Civil Service Commission will immediately begin the process of their employment,” the president assured.

Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to youth development, Tinubu highlighted several ongoing programmes focused on education, skills acquisition, digital innovation, and sustainable development.

Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, praised the president for prioritising young Nigerians, citing the recent increase in NYSC allowance from ₦33,000 to ₦77,000 as a practical response to economic realities.

NYSC Director-General, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, also lauded the contributions of Nigerian youths to national growth, describing them as vital to the country’s future.
