Troops arrest terrorist in Zamfara school

Troops of the 1 Brigade have arrested a suspected terrorist at the Government Science Secondary School in Dansadau, Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

Military sources said the suspect was apprehended at about 9:20 p.m. on June 19 during a routine security operation in the area.

According to the sources, the suspect claimed to be a national of Chad but allegedly gave conflicting accounts regarding his identity and activities, prompting suspicion among the troops.

He was immediately taken into custody for further interrogation and investigation.

Military authorities said efforts are ongoing to determine the suspect’s identity, establish his mission in the area and ascertain any possible links to criminal or terrorist networks operating within the region.
