The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has carried out a precision airstrike against suspected terrorist elements in the Kidandan area of Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Military sources said the operation followed the detection of suspicious movements by an Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) platform at about 4:46 p.m. on June 19.
According to the sources, the suspected terrorists were monitored in real time and positively identified before the strike was executed in accordance with established rules of engagement and coordinated operational procedures.
A post-strike Battle Damage Assessment (BDA) indicated that several suspected terrorists were neutralised, while others sustained injuries during the operation.
The assessment also revealed that several motorcycles used by the group were destroyed.
The air operation is part of ongoing efforts by the Nigerian Air Force to weaken terrorist capabilities, disrupt their movement routes and support ground forces in sustained counter-insurgency operations across the North-West.
Military authorities said further assessments and follow-up operations are underway in the area to consolidate the gains recorded from the strike.
