The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has uploaded results from 2,058 of the 2,445 polling units in the Ekiti State governorship election to its Result Viewing Portal (IReV), representing 84.17 per cent of the total results as of 7:01 p.m. on Saturday.
Data obtained from the portal showed that results had been uploaded from several local government areas, including Irepodun/Ifelodun, Ilejemeje, Moba, Ikere, Ido/Osi, Ekiti East Development Area (EDA), Emure and Oye.
Other local government areas with uploaded results include Efon, Gbonyin, Ise/Orun, Ikole, Ekiti South West, Ado-Ekiti and Ijero.
A total of 14 candidates are contesting the off-cycle governorship election, with incumbent Governor Biodun Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress (APC) seeking a second term in office.
His major challengers include Oluwole Oluyede of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Oluwadare Bejide of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Oyebanji Olajuyin of the Labour Party and Blessing Abegunde of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
Other candidates in the race are Samuel Akande of the African Action Congress (AAC), Ayodeji Ojo of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), Opeyemi Felegan of Accord, Joseph Anifowose of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Bidemi Awogbemi of the Action Peoples Party (APP), Olaniyi Ayodele of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) and Victor Adetunji of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).
INEC continues to upload results to the IReV portal as collation and transmission of election results progress across the state.
