American rapper, Kirshnik Khari Ball, popularly known as Takeoff, has been shot dead at a bowling alley in Houston, United States.

Takeoff, the third member of hip hop trio, Migos which includes rappers Quavo and Offset, was said to have been shot dead where he and Quavo were playing dice in the early hours of Tuesday.

Confirming the rapper’s death, the Houston police said an altercation broke out and someone started shooting where he was playing dice, adding a bullet hit the singer.

The police noted that Takeoff died at the scene, while two other people shot on the premises were taken to hospital.

“Media partners, we are not releasing an identity of the deceased victim until his family is notified and ID verified by Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

“Any updates on the incident will be posted here,” the police added.

Takeoff was born in 1994 in Lawrenceville, Georgia, United States.

He began rapping with Quavo and Offset, his uncle and cousin, respectively, in 2008 under the collective name Polo Club.

In 2011, the trio released Juug Season, their debut mixtape as Migos.

Migos are best known for their 2016 Lil Uzi Vert collaboration Bad and Boujee, which peaked at No 1 in the US, as well as Top 10 hits MotorSport, with Nicki Minaj and Cardi B, and Walk It Talk It, with Drake.

As a solo artist, Takeoff released one album – 2018’s The Last Rocket, which debuted at No 4 in the US – and one record as a duo, last month’s Only Built for Infinity Links, with Quavo.
