In a bid to revitalise the water supply system to ensure the availability of potable drinking water to residents of Kaduna State, Governor Uba Sani has inspected the Kaduna State Water Treatment Plant in the Kakuri area of the state.
Sani inspected the plant on Friday, March 14, 2025.
The governor said the water treatment plant, among many others, has suffered neglect over the years.
He listed the efforts of the Kaduna State Government in the water sector to include the payment of N800 million as payment for all outstanding salaries and wages of Kaduna State Water Corporation (KADSWAC) staff members.
Others are: “N1.3 billion spent to settle outstanding electricity bills.
“Over N400 million spent to purchase water purification chemicals.
Kaduna govt distributes 7,000 motorcycles to workers
“Over N1 billion has been spent in replacing vandalized and nonfunctional water pipelines.”
Sani stated that his administration met water production at 5%, saying it has now been increased to over 25% in the last 20 months with projection of 100% production rate by the end of the fourth quarter of 2025.
“The Kaduna State Government is investing heavily in the rehabilitation and retrofitting of 12 water treatment plants and distribution mains,” the governor added.
