Nigerian singer Ayra Starr has revealed that she believes she would be unemployed and still living with her mother if she had not found success in the music industry.
The award-winning artiste made the remarks during an interview with EE72, where she reflected on her journey to stardom and how different her life might have been without music.
According to Ayra Starr, she does not see herself thriving as a content creator either, noting that the profession requires a high level of effort and commitment.
“If I weren’t doing music, I would literally be unemployed. I don’t even think I would be a content creator because that’s a lot of work. I would just be chilling in my mum’s house and eating my mum’s food,” she said.
The singer’s comments have sparked conversations on social media, with many fans relating her remarks to the challenges many young Nigerians face in securing employment opportunities.
Ayra Starr also spoke about one of the downsides of being in the public eye, admitting that she sometimes wishes fans knew less about her personal life.
She explained that she tends to speak freely whenever cameras are around and often ends up sharing more information than she intends to.
Her remarks come as many celebrities increasingly adopt a more guarded approach to their personal lives and public appearances.
The interview has since generated reactions from fans, many of whom praised the singer for her honesty and self-awareness, while others said her comments highlight how success can dramatically alter a person’s life and opportunities.
