Zenith Bank confirms cyberattack, says limited customer data compromised

Zenith Bank has confirmed that hackers breached its database, resulting in the compromise of limited customer information in what it described as part of a wider global cyberattack targeting organisations across multiple sectors.

Zenith Bank, in an email sent to customers on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, disclosed that the attackers gained access to certain customer details, including email addresses and phone numbers.

The bank, however, assured customers that the breach did not affect its banking services or digital platforms, stressing that all channels remain secure and fully operational.

Zenith Bank noted that its incident response protocols and cybersecurity measures were immediately activated after the breach was detected, while investigations into the incident are ongoing.

“As a precaution, we encourage our customers to remain vigilant against phishing emails, text messages or phone calls, and to never disclose their password, PIN, One-Time Password (OTP), or other security credentials to anyone,” the bank advised.

Zenith Bank reiterated its commitment to safeguarding customers’ information and expressed appreciation for their continued trust, assuring them that efforts to determine the full scope of the cyberattack are still underway.
