Nigeria’s Super Eagles secured a 2–1 win over Iran in an international friendly on Friday, with goals from Moses Simon and Akor Adams sealing the victory.
Simon opened the scoring in the 7th minute after connecting with a Samuel Chukwueze assist, giving Nigeria an early advantage. Akor Adams doubled the lead in the 52nd minute, finishing off a move created by Ademola Lookman.
Iran’s Mehdi Taremi reduced the deficit in the 67th minute, but Nigeria maintained control to close out the match.
The game forms part of the team’s preparation plans as Coach Eric Chelle continues to assess new combinations and strengthen the squad ahead of future competitive fixtures.
The Super Eagles will next face Jordan on March 31 at the Mardan Stadyumu in Antalya, Turkey, in a four-nation invitational tournament aimed at providing quality match practice for rebuilding teams and World Cup-bound sides.
Although Nigeria will not feature in the World Cup in June, the friendlies are seen as crucial for maintaining momentum and developing squad cohesion.
Fans remain encouraged by the team’s growing attacking chemistry as the Super Eagles push forward in their rebuilding phase.
