ADC begins sale of nomination forms ahead of party convention

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has commenced the sale of Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms in preparation for its forthcoming ward, local government, state congresses, and national convention.

In a notice issued on Sunday and signed by the party’s National Organising Secretary, Pa Idigo, the ADC called on interested members to obtain the appropriate forms to contest for various elective positions within the party structure.

According to the announcement, the cost of forms differs across positions and levels. At the ward level, the Expression of Interest Form is priced at N2,000, while nomination forms cost N10,000 for Ward Chairman, N5,000 for Ward Secretary, and N3,000 for other ward officials.

At the local government level, forms for the position of LGA Chairman are pegged at N40,000, LGA Secretary at N30,000, and N10,000 for other positions.

For state offices, aspirants for the position of State Chairman are required to pay N500,000, while State Secretary forms cost N300,000. Other state-level positions attract a fee of N50,000 each.

At the national level, delegates to the convention are expected to pay a nomination fee of N10,000, with each local government mandated to send one delegate.

The party also outlined nomination requirements, stating that all aspirants must secure a specified number of nominators, each of whom must pay a non-refundable fee of N50.

Ward Chairman aspirants are required to have 10 nominators, while other ward candidates need five. At the LGA level, chairman aspirants must secure 20 nominators drawn from across the area, while other candidates require 10.

For state positions, aspirants for State Chairman must obtain 50 nominators, with at least one from each local government area, while other state office seekers need 20 nominators each.

The ADC stated that the sale and submission of forms will close on Friday, March 27, 2026, warning that late submissions will not be accepted. Screening of aspirants is scheduled to take place between March 30 and 31.

The development follows the earlier release of the party’s timetable for the 2026 congresses. Polling unit and ward congresses are slated for April 7, local government congresses for April 9, and state congresses for April 11, while the national convention is scheduled to hold on April 14.
