Akeredolu to APC: Rotate power to South to retain presidency

Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, has charged the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to zone its presidential ticket to the southern part of the country to remain in power in 2023.

Akeredolu, who is the Chairman of the Southern Governors Forum, made this known in a short message on his Facebook page on Thursday.

The governor was on Wednesday appointed as the Chairman of Security and Compliance for the APC special convention for the presidential primaries scheduled to hold in Abuja on June 6 to 8, 2023.

Governor Akeredolu re-echoed the position of his colleagues in the Southern Governors Forum, stressing that the APC must zone its presidential ticket to the South to retain power in 2023.

“APC must work to retain power. We must rotate power to retain power !!! Rotate to the South. Shikena,” the governor wrote.

The aspirants vying for the APC presidential ticket include Vice President Yemi Osinbajo; the party’s national leader, Sen. Bola Tinubu; Senate President, Ahmad Lawan; former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Sen. Godswill Akpabio; Governors Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti), Yahaya Bello (Kogi), David Umahi (Ebonyi), and Abubakar Badaru (Jigawa State).

Others areFormer Governors Ibikunle Amosun (Ogun), Sani Yerima (Zamfara), Rochas Okorocha (Imo); and the former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi.

Others include former Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajiuba; Pastor Felix Nicholas, the only female presidential aspirant, Mrs Uju Ken-Ohanenye; Pastor Tunde Bakare; Sen. Ajayi Boroffice; former Senate President, Ken Nnamani;  former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole; oil magnate, Tein Jack; and a few others.
