Abubakar Malami
Former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), has confirmed that he has been invited by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for questioning.
In a statement released his Facebook page, Malami described himself as a law-abiding and patriotic citizen, reiterating his commitment to honour the EFCC invitation.
He emphasized the principles of transparency and accountability in public service, which he has long championed, and pledged to share updates with Nigerians as the matter unfolds.
“Rooted in public service and in the spirit of transparency and accountability, I am committed to sharing with the Nigerian public the developments as they unfold,” Malami said.
The EFCC, Nigeria’s foremost anti-graft agency, investigates allegations of financial crimes including money laundering, embezzlement, and corruption.
While the exact reasons for the invitation have not been disclosed, Malami’s cooperation signals his willingness to engage with investigative authorities.
During his tenure from 2015 to 2023 as Attorney-General, Malami oversaw key legal and prosecutorial matters, including interactions with anti-corruption agencies like the EFCC.
His invitation has thus generated significant public interest and scrutiny.
Malami’s public acknowledgment of the EFCC invitation reflects his willingness to cooperate with law enforcement authorities and reinforces broader anti-corruption principles in Nigeria.
