Nigerian software engineer and co-founder of Paystack, Shola Akinlade, has acquired a Danish second division club, Aarhus Fremad.

The 38-year-old fintech founder acquired a 55 per cent take in the club, making him the majority owner of Aarhus Fremad with the aim of revitalising the club.

The latest development was made known via a statement issued by the club on Tuesday, March 28.

“We have looked at the date correctly, and yes – it is good enough Aarhus Fremad has closed an agreement today, which means a new owner in the club.

“We are very much looking forward to the collaboration and eagerly await what the future brings us,” Aarhus Fremad noted.

The club presently occupies the top spot in the Danish second division with six points lead.

The acquisition of the Danish second division club comes one year after Akinlade established Sporting Lagos Football Club in Lagos State.
