The aggrieved governors of the Peoples Democratic Party, known as G-5, have reiterated their stance for equity justice, and fairness in the PDP, saying they are strong in their states and committed to winning elections in 2023.
The aggrieved governors, including Nyesom Wike (Rivers), Samuel Ortom (Benue), Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu), Seyi Makinde (Oyo State), and Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia) said this while speaking at flag-off of the PDP campaigns in Abia State on Thursday.
Speaking at the rally held at the Umuahia Township Stadium in Umuahia, the Abia State capital, the governors urged the people of the state to remain resolute in PDP, stressing that they are ready to take Nigeria out of its present challenges.
The PDP G-5, who described Ikpeazu as “a performer and man of integrity who is trusted”, said they would support the party’s candidates in Abia State.
Speaking, Governor Ikpeazu stated that he was sure all PDP candidates would emerge victorious in the 2023 general election based on the fact that his administration has affected the people of Abia State positively, saying the party’s candidates “are of men of character”.

“No other political party is existing in Abia State and those that claim to be existing are people of zero electoral value,” he added.
In his remarks, the PDP Chairman in Abia State, Hon. Asiforo Okere, said the event which was a combination of the rallies and sensitisation that have been taking place in the Wards and LGAs of the state.
Okere stated that the party would present 36 candidates in the 2023 general election, including the governorship candidate, Prof. Uche Ikonne, three senatorial candidates, eight House of Representatives candidates, and 24 House of Assembly.
Speaking on behalf of the candidates, Ikonne said he would, through his ‘TIGER Economy’ manifesto, engage in participatory governance in Abia State if elected as governor in 2023.
He urged the people of the state to vote for him and “expect best results and more developmental projects” in the state.
Others at the event were the Deputy Governor of Abia State, Hon. Ude Chukwu; the former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose; and former Abia State Deputy Governor, Acho Nwakanma, among others.
