PHOTOS: Leaked documents detail coup blueprint

Fresh details have emerged on the alleged operational blueprint developed by military officers accused of plotting to overthrow President Bola Tinubu’s administration, shedding light on coded communications, assigned targets, mobilisation plans and the proposed timeline for the operation.

The revelations are contained in investigative documents reviewed by Premium Times, which said the alleged conspirators adopted agricultural terms as code words to conceal discussions about the planned takeover.

According to the documents, the plotters referred to themselves as “Farmers,” while the entire operation was described as “Farming.” Logistics were allegedly coded as “Fertilisers,” the execution day as “Harvest,” and the operation itself as “Digital Farming.”

Other terms included “Technical Partners,” which allegedly referred to clerics approached for prayers, while “D-Day” and “H-Hour” denoted the planned day and time of execution.

The documents also outlined specific assignments for key locations and individuals allegedly involved in the operation.

Among the listed targets were the Presidential Villa, the Federal Radio House in Abuja, the residences of the Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Staff, the Air House, the 102 Battalion in Zuma, Niger State, the Niger Barracks gate in Abuja and a divisional headquarters in Lagos.

The alleged plan also included disrupting flight operations at the Abuja and Lagos airports on the day of the operation.

Investigators further claimed the alleged conspirators planned to mobilise personnel and equipment from different military formations, including battalions in Bida and the North-East, as well as a naval unit.

The documents indicated that the alleged coordinator told investigators that the availability of troops and equipment would determine the final execution date.

Three possible dates reportedly featured repeatedly during planning: September 27, October 1 and October 4, 2025.

The proposed strike window was said to be between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m., although investigators noted that no final date was agreed upon because preparations had not been completed before the alleged plot was uncovered.

The documents stressed that the allegations were based on statements made by the accused officers during the investigation and have not been tested in court.

Six defendants are currently facing a 13-count charge before the Federal High Court in Abuja over the alleged coup plot. They have challenged the admissibility of their statements, while the court is yet to rule on the matter.

The case remains before the court, and the allegations have not been judicially determined.
