The embattled senator representing Adamawa North Senatorial District, Elisha Abbo, has apologised over his allegation that Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, influenced the judgement of the Court of Appeal that sacked him from the National Assembly.
The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja had, on Monday, October 16, 2023, sacked Abbo, a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The court ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to issue a Certificate of Return to Rev. Amos Yohanna of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the duly elected lawmaker for the senatorial district.
The senator later alleged that Akpabio had a hand in the court judgement against him, an allegation denied by the Senate President.
Speaking in an interview with Arise TV on Wednesday, Abbo said he was convinced Akpabio did not plot his sack by the court after a conversation with the Senate President on Tuesday night.

The lawmaker quoted Akpabio as saying to him: “I swear by my mother’s grave that I’m not involved; I don’t even know that you’re in court.”
Senator Abbo further stated: “I have to say with all sense of humility and responsibility that the press release we issued yesterday was premature and based on the available information at our disposal.
“As of today, we have discovered a lot of things, and yesterday night, I had a discussion with the Senate President, and I am convinced that he is not involved.
“For a number three citizen to come up to tell me that he has sworn on his mother’s grave, a woman that he loves so much, a woman who brought him up after he lost his father at the age of six, I don’t see a reason why he would lie.”
