Why Tinubu’ll lose power in 2027, by Aregbesola

Former Minister of Interior and National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rauf Aregbesola, has predicted that President Bola Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) will lose the 2027 general elections.

Speaking in Ilorin on Saturday while inaugurating the new Kwara State ADC secretariat, Aregbesola said the ruling party’s actions show “insecurity and fear” rather than confidence in its political strength.

“If APC is confident of its strength, it won’t be hounding and hunting opposition members nationwide,” he said, accusing the party of harassing ADC members across the country.

He argued that the APC’s “desperation” reveals its declining popularity, asserting that the ADC is positioned to benefit from the ruling party’s failures.

“They know they are not popular, and the party that will harvest their unpopularity is ADC. By the grace of God, ADC will take over the mantle of leadership in Nigeria,” he said.

Aregbesola also dismissed recent defections of some governors to the APC, calling them “enemies of the people” whose exit, he said, would not affect the opposition’s chances.

Joining in his optimism, former Kwara State Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed — who recently defected from the PDP to the ADC — said the new movement marks “the beginning of a new political direction” for the state and the country.

“The party is here to stay. A new dawn has begun in Kwara, and we are poised to take over leadership of the country in 2027,” Ahmed stated.
