Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has enjoined Nigerians to support the President-elect, Bola Tinubu, saying he is confident the latter has what it takes to turn Nigeria around.
Wike said this while speaking to journalists after meeting with Tinubu alongside his Oyo State counterpart, Seyi Makinde, at the Defence House in Abuja on Friday, April 28.
“Elections have come and gone. The winner has emerged and therefore it is necessary for all Nigerians to give him the necessary support for the interest of Nigeria.
“I am confident that he has what it takes to turn Nigeria around,” the governor declared.
Also speaking, Makinde enjoined Nigerians to rally round Tinubu for Nigeria’s progress.

“I came here to basically pay homage to the President-elect and to let him know that elections are over and this is time for governance and we would do our best to give him support for the good governance of Nigeria,” Governor Makinde stated.
Both Wike and Makinde were elected on the platform of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The governors alongside three others, Governors Samuel Ortom (Benue), Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu), known as G5, did not support the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, over his alleged refusal to prevail on the party’s former National Chairman, Sen. Iyorchia Ayu, to resign after the former Vice President, a northerner, clinched the presidential ticket of the party.
The aggrieved governors insisted that it was unfair for the main opposition party to have the national chairman and presidential candidate from the northern region of the country in the build-up to the 2023 general election, saying Ayu should resign his position for justice, equity, and fairness in the PDP.
Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), however, defeated Atiku and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) to emerge the winner of the February 25, 2023, presidential election.
