Some governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have held a closed-door meeting with former Military President, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, and former Head of State General Abdulsalami Abubakar.
The PDP governors were led by Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike.
The other governors include Ifeanyi Ugwuani of Enugu State, Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State, former governor of Benue State, Gabriel Suswam, and other members of the National Assembly.
The governors, who arrived Minna, Niger State at about 3.30p.m., drove straight to the Uphill country home of Babangida in the state capital.
Speaking shortly after the meeting on behalf of his colleagues, Governor Ikpeazu explained that the governors were in Minna to meet with the two former heads of state, where they discussed national issues, especially on economic development, security and unity of the country.

He said: “I came with my other governors of the PDP to discuss national issues economic development, unity security of our country. Our discussion went well and we will be advancing from there.”
Governor Ikpeazu disclosed to newsmen that during the meeting, Babangida expressed concern about Nigeria, particularly on the need for the younger to join in the political race in order to rescue the country from various challenges.
“Babangida said that he expects the younger generation to take gauntlet and rescue Nigeria,” the governor added.
When asked if the PDP governors’ visit was on the 2023 general election, Ikpeazu simply said: “No we will discuss that later.”
